Privacy Policy
Effective October 1, 2026
gimme is run by its developer (“we,” “us”). This policy explains what the gimme app collects, why, and what you can do about it.
The short version: we collect only what gimme needs to work. We don’t sell your data, we don’t run ads, and we don’t track you across other apps or websites. gimme has no analytics.
1. What we collect
Account
- Your email address, from Apple or Google when you sign in. If you use Apple’s “Hide My Email,” we get a private relay address instead.
- Your first name from Apple or Google, which we use as your display name. You can change it in the me tab.
- Your sign-in method and a unique account ID.
What you save
- Links you save or share into gimme, plus the item name, image, price, currency, store name, and category we read from the page or that you enter.
- A copy of each item’s image, stored by us so it doesn’t disappear when the store changes its page.
- Photos you choose from your photo library to replace an item’s image.
- Which items you’ve planned or bought, when, and the price you paid.
Your budget and settings
- Budget type (weekly or monthly), amounts, home currency, which budget period each item is planned into, and any leftover budget you choose to roll over.
- Your time zone and the first day of your week, taken from your phone.
Lists you share
- If you share a list, we create a link for it and keep your choices for that link: the whole wishlist or one category, and whether prices show.
Your device
- Our servers see the IP address of each request, which we use for security and to limit abuse.
Store pages your phone loads for us
Some stores block our servers from reading their product pages. When that happens, your phone may load the page itself and send us the page’s contents so we can read the product details. This is a plain request from the app. It doesn’t use your Safari or store logins.
Things we don’t collect
- No analytics or advertising identifiers, and no tracking across other companies’ apps or sites.
- No contacts, precise location, or health data.
- We read your clipboard only when you tap Paste.
- gimme cannot see anything else in the apps you share from. It receives only the link you send.
2. How we use it
- To run gimme: sign you in, save and show your items, keep your budget and plan, and sync between your devices.
- To read product details from the links you save.
- To sort items into categories automatically.
- To convert prices between currencies using daily exchange rates.
- To keep gimme secure, stop abuse, and fix problems.
- To answer you when you contact support.
We don’t use your data to build advertising profiles.
3. Lists you share
Sharing is off until you use it. When you tap the share icon and share a link:
- Anyone with the link can open it, with no account. Treat the link like the list itself: whoever you send it to can pass it on.
- What they see: your display name, and for each item on the list its name, image, store, link, and (if you leave prices on) price. This includes photos you added yourself.
- What they never see: your email, your budget, what you’ve planned or bought, or anything else in your account.
- It stays current. The page shows your list as it is when opened, so items you add appear and items you delete or mark bought disappear.
- Stopping it. Reset link in the share sheet makes the old link stop working. Deleting your account removes all your links.
Shared pages are not listed in search engines. Someone viewing a shared list can report it; we may hide a list that breaks our terms.
If you view or report a shared list: you don’t need an account and we don’t use cookies or tracking. Our servers see your IP address, which we use to limit abuse. If you send a report, we keep the reason, anything you write, and a scrambled form of your IP address that can’t be turned back into the address.
4. Who else handles your data
We use these service providers. They process data only to provide their service to us.
| Provider | What it does for gimme | What it receives |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase | Database, sign-in, image storage, and the servers that run gimme | Everything in section 1 |
| Apple and Google | Sign in with Apple and Google | Your sign-in request; they tell us your ID, email, and first name |
| Anthropic | Picks an item’s category | The item’s name, store, link, and page description. Not your email or account details |
| GitHub | Hosts our website and the shared list page | The IP address of anyone who opens those pages. Not your list or account details |
Other things to know:
- Stores. When you tap Buy, you leave gimme and open the store’s site or app. The store follows its own privacy policy.
- Exchange rates. We fetch daily rates from public sources. No personal data is sent.
- Legal and safety. We may disclose data if the law requires it, or to protect people from harm, fraud, or abuse.
- If gimme changes hands. If gimme is sold or transferred, your data may move with it, under this policy or one at least as protective.
We don’t sell your personal information and we don’t share it for advertising.
5. How long we keep it
- Your account data stays until you delete your account.
- When you delete an item, it’s removed after a few seconds (the time you have to undo), including its stored image.
- When you delete your account, we remove your account, items, budgets, stored images, and shared links.
- A shared link works until you reset it or delete your account.
6. Your choices and rights
In the me tab you can:
- Edit your items, budget, display name, and home currency.
- Delete an item, or your whole account and everything in it (Your data, then Delete account).
- Sign out at any time.
In the wishlist’s share sheet you can choose whether a shared list shows prices, and reset its link.
For a copy of your data, or anything else, email gimme.wish@gmail.com. We’ll reply within 30 days. If you live in a place with privacy laws that give you additional rights, such as California, you can use those rights the same way. We won’t treat you differently for using them.
7. Security
Each account’s data is separated from every other account’s at the database level. Data is encrypted in transit and stored with our providers, images are kept private (they’re shown only to you and on lists you share), and no secret keys are kept in the app. No system is perfectly secure, so we can’t promise absolute security. If a breach affects you, we’ll tell you as the law requires.
8. Children
gimme is not for children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their data. If you think a child under 13 has an account, email gimme.wish@gmail.com and we’ll delete it.
9. Where your data is handled
gimme is run from the United States and is offered here. Our providers may process data in the United States and other countries.
10. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we’ll update the date above. For significant changes, such as collecting new kinds of data, we’ll tell you in the app or by email before they take effect.
